Quality early learning and purpose-built preschools since 2007
The Discovery Junction story started with The Playroom, a purpose-built Early Learning Centre in Manchester St. Building the ideal learning environment from the ground up taught us a valuable lesson. Everything truly good in life starts with great people who know their work.
This is an ideal that we carried over into the construction of Discovery Junction in Opawa. In fact, we not only infused our next design with all the things we had learned from The Playroom but we brought with us many of the great relationships we had formed there.
Then in 2017
When it came time to plan and construct Discovery Junction we knew we knew we loved wide, well-lit hallways, and a separate space for kaiako to regroup and recharge. We wanted even more bespoke murals, hand-crafted equipment, and bright, colourful learning spaces for our tamariki. And this time, we opened the lens to include an immersive outdoor ‘explore, learn and grow’ experience.
Colourful canopies, places to explore and lots of creative stations in which to play, learn and socialise in the fresh air.
Then, when we found Discovery Junction - Styx Mill (formerly known as Nestled) - we saw a design that had all the Discovery Junction DNA, and we extended our whanau by sharing our knowledge and our values, and by listening to both kaiako and parents alike.
